When to Toss Makeup Out

Who doesn’t love to hoard 10 shades of red lipstick in their makeup bag, especially when  a good sum of money was spent on each one of them. As much as we’d love to have something different for every occasion in our makeup collections, storing products for a long time means they would eventually expire. To extend shelf lives of all your products, you can take some basic precautions.

  • Put the lids back on tightly,
  • Clean makeup brushes and prevent transfer of bacteria.
  • Store away from moisture and heat.
  • Twist the mascara wand in instead of pushing it to prevent air from getting pumped in.
  • Wash your hands before applying makeup — the bacteria on your hands can accumulate on products.
  • Don’t add water to dilute.
