Maybe it’s your first apartment and you are stoked about it. No matter how small it is, you love it because it is yours. And with planners drowning in ideas, there’s no way you’re going to let that tiny budget stop you from turning your shoe-box sized bedroom into a dreamy abode. Or maybe it’s your dorm that you’re trying to decorate. It is tiny, lifeless and monotonous, but that poster you bought on a sale is only going to make matters worse. So DIY some Paris inspired wall art and make a couple of signature throw pillows. But if your place still lacks that ~bling~, it’s time to DIY this nifty Framed Mirror Tray.
Supplies
- Frame
- Mirror
- Drawer pulls
- Thumbtacks
- Spray Paint
Remove the glass and backing from the frame and clean it with a damp cloth.
Put two light coats of spray paint, giving each enough time to dry completely.
Place the drawer pulls on the smaller sides of the frame and fix them in place using thumbtacks. (Make sure you get the pulls and thumbtacks in the same color. The tacks I used were silver and after I spray painted them, I realized they didn’t get the same sheen as the pulls.)
Replace the glass with a mirror of the same dimensions.
Mirrors help to animate little spaces and make them look roomier. Placing them strategically can help you make your place look brighter. So think of a few spots that need more light and add this 10 min DIY mirror tray to your decor.
Place some flowers and gilt accessories to add more sparkle.
Till next time!
Beautiful!

This is soo pretty and pocket friendly! I badly want to have my own place , a little matchbox will do. I used to think i will do all these pretty DIYs when i get my own place. Currently i live in a pretty spacious apartment, but it belongs to my family. I still dream to get my place . Somehow this post made me realise that i can decorate the space I’m already in. Yes it will be restricting but a mirror tray or few shabby chic frames won’t kill anyone i guess.
Thanks for inspiring 🙂 and sorry for such a long comment!!

Thank you for your comment, Somorita. I can’t wait to get my own place either and it made my day to know my post inspired someone. It really is these little personal touches that can turn a house into a home–a small DIY here and there.
My best wishes to you and thank you for stopping by.

As a variation you could use a picture instead of a mirror. A picture of the grandkids for a present for grandma for example. Or a handmade drawing or painting done by a child for mom or grandparent. Or even just a favorite enlarged photo or family portrait.

That would make a great gift! Thanks.
